Pep Guardiola and Manchester City will be looking to out last season behind them even though they had won the Carabao Cup, they had a bitterly disappointing Premier League and Champions League in which isn’t up to standard for both Guardiola and Man City. However, we are now into the new season now and today we assess whether they have a good enough defence to be able to close the gap with Liverpool and bring the Premier League trophy back to the blue side of Manchester.
Premier League losses this season:
2 – Liverpool
7 – Wolves
8 – Man Utd

During the off-season many Manchester City football punters had to find alternative avenues in which to try a create an inhouse profit due to the lack of football on our screens. Many bookies have seen a trend in usual football punters migrating over to online casinos markets and the reviews of the Ocean Breeze casino explain that – offering a 24/7 service on some of the best casinos on the web and offering huge welcome bonuses to all new customers is something that even the experts believe isn’t going to slow down even with the return of the Premier League a couple weeks ago.
City have strengthened this year in the central defence position, a place in which Pep still doesn’t seem to know his strongest pairing at the back. They have signed Nathan Ake from Bournemouth for a reported £40 million which seems to be quite a solid signing for a defender who is still young at just 25 years old. Pep will be hoping that Ake will partner Laporte, who seems to be there number one centre back, and form a good partnership.
In the wingback areas, a place in which Guardiola has spent over £300million on in his time in Manchester is the worry though. With wingbacks being such an important position in the modern day game, we still can’t work out why Pep hasn’t got it to work for him. Benjamin Mendy is the first choice left back but has always struggled with injury and Kyle Walker is the first choice right back but he is starting to get on now. Is this defence good enough to win the league? Only time will tell.
